Evaluate the impacts of opioid cap laws on both intended reductions in long-term opioid
use and overdoses, and unintended adverse outcomes from undertreated pain in older adults.

Our Approach

We have ongoing projects to evaluate how opioid discharge prescribing policies impact older adults undergoing orthopaedic trauma surgery. Our work examines both intended and unintended consequences of opioid prescribing, generating evidence to guide data-driven policy decisions that balance pain management with patient safety.
